Bank of Cheraw
Chartered December 18, 1822.  It appears the bank failed approximately 1829.  It was put into
liquidation prior to 1833.  All of the known notes are dated 1825 or 1826.  This is by far the most
difficult South Carolina bank to collect.  I know of seven issued notes on this bank, three $5 and four
$10, and one cut sheet of proofs in the SC state archives.  One of the $5 notes is damaged and one of
the $10 notes has not been seen for decades.
